Thomas Mangloña II : Truman Scholarship
Thomas Mangloña II is Berkeley’s first Truman Scholar since 2015. He is a Gates Millennium Scholar and undergraduate majoring in media studies. A native of the Northern Mariana Islands, Thomas started writing news reports on his blog for his island in middle school. Since then, his passion for journalism has flourished, leading him to work for several print publications and the regional Pacific News Center as an on-camera correspondent covering government, education, and community. Thomas is the executive director of Berkeley’s CalTV and a former news intern at ABC7 News in SF. He is passionate about diversity and representation in the media.
